Compact / Short Length Static Mixers (DSM Series)

A range of Inline Compact (sometimes called Wafer-Style) Static Mixers originally developed to meet the special requirements of the global desalination industry, but now expanded across almost all process industries where a short length mixer is required.

The Statiflo DSM compact static mixer provides the highest mixture quality with minimum dosing of additive(s), eliminating overdosing to enhance downstream separation efficiencies and membrane lifespan. The requirement for dosing lances with small additive release holes, aided by internal baffles, has been eliminated.

The very latest techniques for design and modelling have been used to develop the Statiflo DesalMixer (DSM) for turbulent flow dosing and blending applications in the pre-treatment and post-treatment stages of desalination processes.

The Statiflo DSM has also been independently tested for pressure drop and mixture quality (variation coefficient, CoV) by BHR Group, world leaders in fluid engineering, research & consultancy. Mixers have been tested at industry realistic fluid velocities and additive ratios and demonstrated to achieve better than industry standard mixture quality.

Typical Applications

Pre-treatment applications for minimising biofouling, sealing and membrane plugging:-

  • Inlet blending
  • pH control
  • Disinfection
  • Anti – scalant
  • Coagulation
  • Flocculation
Statiflo DesalMixer - a short length wafer-style mixer

3 versions are available, ultra short length (0.25D), standard length (0.5D) and extended length (1.0D) – allowing ‘tuned’ mixer selection for both rapid (highest headloss) and slow mixing (lowest headloss) duties (e.g. coagulation and disinfection). Custom length versions also available.

Single and multiple injection options can be provided and the internal configuration diverts and swirls the mainstream into the additive release zone for efficient mixing without the need for internal spargers or baffles.

  • Market-leading mixing element designs

Special short length element design with pressure drops/head losses up to 70% lower than other short mixer designs.

  • Available for most pipe sizes

Diameters from as small as DN200 (8″) with no theoretical upper limit.

  • Superior mixture qualities achievable

Designed to achieve a Coefficient of Variation (CoV) of 0.05 from 3 pipe diameters downstream of the mixer discharge for most turbulent flow applications.

  • Accessories to complement

Supplied with injection branches to ensure chemical additive is released at the perfect location to achieve the best possible mixing. No internal lances are required so there are no small additive release holes to eliminate the possibility of blocking/plugging. This also means that standby injectors are not required.

  • Materials to suit your requirements

GRP/FRP, stainless steel, epoxy coated carbon steel, Alloy C276, Dulplex/Super Duplex, Inconel or any other commercially available material.

  • Performance Guarantee

Every Statiflo DSM Inline Compact Static Mixer comes with guaranteed performance. Our static mixer designs have been extensively and rigorously tested under industry-realistic conditions to allow us to guarantee the mixing performance and the head loss across the mixer. If required Statiflo can perform CFD simulations for specific conditions.

  • Testing Standards

A full visual inspection is carried out on each unit before it leaves our premises, along with a dimensional check and any other testing which is required.

Optional tests available including hydrotest, radiography, magnetic particle inspection (MPI), Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI), positive material identification (PMI) or ultrasonic testing (UT) are all available.

  • Design Codes and Standards

Available design codes include ASME B31.3, ASME VIII div 1, AD2000 Merkblatt, PED2014/68/EU and many others to suit your requirements.

  • Complete with Statiflo’s Standard Documentation Set

Your Compact Wafer-style Static Inline Mixers will come complete with customised GA Drawing, 3.1 Material Certification, a Certificate of Conformity and one copy of our Installation, Operation and Maintenance Manual.

  • Further Documentation Supplied for High Levels of QA

Other optional documentation such as NDT procedures/reports, hydrotest reports, Quality Plan/Inspection Test Plan, Production Schedule, WPS/PQRs is available upon request.

  • Warranty Period

As standard, Statiflo offers a warranty of 12 months from plant commissioning or 18 months from equipment delivery, whichever is the sooner. Extended warranties can be supplied upon request.

  • Spare Parts / Special Tools

Statiflo products have no moving parts there is no requirement for expensive spares or special tools.

  • Supervision for Installation and Commissioning

The ‘plug and play’ design means there is no requirement for supervision for installation or commissioning. The extremely simple installation is covered entirely by the Installation, Operation & Maintenance manual supplied with each order.

If you would feel more comfortable having guidance on-site, Statiflo can send one of our highly qualified engineers to guide and supervise the installation to give you the confidence that everything is done correctly.
