Statiflo Spain: A water treatment plant in Spain has been upgraded with its second bespoke gas dispersion system from Statiflo.
ETAP El Realon near Valencia is operated by water company Emivasa, which turned to Statiflo for a system to implement an advanced oxidation process.
Our custom-designed GDS provides a hybrid mixing system. It has an extended contactor mixer, which is 7.5 metres long to allow for hydrogen peroxide and ozone dosing, each with its own set of static mixing elements.
This means the hydrogen peroxide can be efficiently mixed as the water flows through before ozone is added to the system from a pre-dispersion loop.
The ozonated side stream is then mixed with the main water stream, which contains the hydrogen peroxide.
Carl Wilkinson, group business development manager at Statiflo, who led our team who devised the system, said historically this process would have been carried out in two stages but the firm came up with a hybrid option because of limited available space at the plant.
ETAP El Realon is a treatment plant for drinking water and is located in a popular tourist region, as well as serving a large residential area.
Carl said: “Emivasa is a valued client of Statiflo, having taken delivery of a similar GDS which was installed last year.
“Emivasa was looking for a technical solution to implement an AOP and we were able to design and supply the ideal system to suit their needs.
“The plant is subject to fluctuating seasonal demand for water due to an influx of tourists at certain times of the year and the upgrade means it now has an additional treatment line to cater for its requirements.
“It’s very pleasing to have successfully completed the design and installation of this hybrid system, demonstrating how adaptable Statiflo products can be in any process.”
